For the best value under A$300 in Australia, look for a men's 3/2mm fullsuit with glued and blindstitched (GBS) seams: the ones we checked on the brands' own Australian websites on 19 October 2026 cost A$209 to A$299.99. At Flatrock Surf, our Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V2 was the only chest-zip 3/2 we found under A$300 (A$209, down from A$349), and every other GBS suit under A$300 we checked had a back zip.

We make wetsuits, so take this with that in mind. That's why the table below sticks to what each brand states on its own Australian site: the price, the zip and the seams. No scores from us, no "winner" badges. You can check every row yourself.

What should a wetsuit under A$300 have?

At this price you're choosing which corners get cut, so know which ones matter for how you surf.

Seams

Best for winter: glued and blindstitched (GBS).

GBS panels are glued first, then stitched with a needle that doesn't go all the way through the neoprene, so there are no holes for water to come through. Flatlock stitching goes straight through both panels. Vissla's own page for the Easy Seas puts it plainly: flatlock seams "let a little water through", which suits warmer-water sessions. If your 3/2 is your winter suit, GBS is worth paying for.

Zip

Best for warmth: a chest zip. Best for easy on and off: a back zip.

A chest zip lets less water in than a back zip and leaves the back panel free to stretch when you paddle. A back zip is simpler to get in and out of without help. Under A$300, most of what we found was back zip, so that's the trade you're usually making at this price.

Lining

Best for long sessions: a thermal lining through the core.

Not every brand lists its lining, so we've left it out of the table rather than guess. Our V2 has a quick-drying stretch terry thermal lining through the chest, back and thighs, and our V3 runs it from the chest to the knees.

Is the Flatrock Surf Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V2 good value?

We think so, and here's what backs it up. The Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V2 is our previous-generation fullsuit, rated for 57 to 68°F (14 to 20°C) water. It's built from limestone-based neoprene with a 24-panel cut, glued and blindstitched seams taped on the inside, a YKK chest zip with an internal seal panel, and a thermal lining through the core. On our site it has 29 reviews averaging 4.9 out of 5. It comes in S, M, L and XL, with no short or tall fits.

It's the previous generation of our fullsuit. The Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V3 runs the thermal lining down to the knees, seals the cuffs on two smooth-skin bands, adds a key holder inside the chest and comes in short and tall sizes (S, MS, M, MT, LS, L and XL). At A$395 it's over the A$300 line, so it's the one to look at if you surf a lot through winter or a standard size doesn't suit your height.

Both come with free standard shipping in Australia, 100-day returns (unused, unwashed and still tagged) and a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. The details are on our warranty page.

Is a 3/2 the right thickness to buy?

For most of the Australian coast, yes. A 3/2mm fullsuit is made for water between 57 and 68°F (14 and 20°C), which covers winter in Sydney and Perth. If you surf Victoria or Tasmania through winter, the water drops below 14°C and you'll want a 4/3mm with boots for those months. Our guide to which wetsuit thickness is best for Australia has the numbers by season.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I spend on a 3/2 wetsuit in Australia?

Flatrock Surf's check of brands' own Australian sites on 19 October 2026 found men's 3/2mm GBS fullsuits from A$209 to A$299.99. Apart from our V2, the chest-zip 3/2s we checked were A$349.99 to A$399.99. Spend where it counts: seams first, then the zip.

Are flatlock seams OK for a winter wetsuit?

For a winter suit, Flatrock Surf recommends glued and blindstitched (GBS) seams instead. Flatlock stitching goes through the neoprene and lets a little water in, which is fine in warmer water but not ideal for a cold morning.

Is a chest zip worth paying more for?

Flatrock Surf's fullsuits all use a chest zip because it lets less water in than a back zip. If you mostly surf warmer water or want the easiest suit to get on and off, a back zip is a reasonable way to save money.

How long does a wetsuit last?

Flatrock Surf's FAQ says a well-cared-for suit should last a good few years. Rinse it in cold fresh water after every surf, dry it inside out out of the sun, and never put it in a washing machine or dryer.
