Build Features

  • Close-up of a blindstitched seam on the fullsuit, the stitch line running alongside the bonded panel join in the neoprene's jersey knit face

    Blindstitched seams

Glued and blindstitched rather than punched straight through. The needle never fully pierces the neoprene, so the seam doesn't leak.

  • Close-up of bonded seam tape running over a seam inside the fullsuit

    Taped seams

Every interior seam is sealed under bonded tape. Nothing left open along the stitch line for cold water to find.

  • Close-up of the brushed thermal terry lining fabric

    Thermal core lining

Quick-drying stretch terry through the chest, back and thighs — the panels that decide whether you last two hours or one.

  • Close-up of the reinforced knee pad and its overlocked edge

    Anatomical knees

Pre-bent panels with a ribbed abrasion overlay. Holds shape after a winter of duckdives and dragging up the rocks.

  • Close-up of the wrist cuff with smooth-skin sealing bands

    Sealed cuffs

Smooth-skin bands close against the wrist and ankle, so the suit stops flushing every time you go under.

  • Close-up of the key loop stitched inside the fullsuit

    Key holder

A stitched loop inside the chest. Somewhere for the car key that isn't the wheel well.

Questions

What water temperature is a 3/2mm wetsuit for?

A 3/2mm fullsuit like the Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V3 is made for water between 57 and 68°F (14 and 20°C). Above 20°C a 1.5mm wetsuit top is enough, and below 14°C you want a 4/3mm fullsuit with boots. Pick for the coldest water you'll surf, and go a step warmer if you feel the cold.

Is a 3/2mm wetsuit warm enough for winter in Australia?

In Sydney and Perth, yes. Sydney's water averages 18.8 to 19.7°C from June to August and Perth's 19.2 to 21.1°C, which is 3/2mm water. Victoria and Tasmania are colder: Torquay and Hobart average 12.7 to 14.4°C in winter, where a 4/3mm fullsuit with boots is the better call.

What do the MS, MT and LS wetsuit sizes mean?

V3 adds short and tall fits through the middle of the range: S, MS, M, MT, LS, L and XL. Short and tall sizes change length only (arms, legs and torso); the width stays the same. MS, M and MT share the same chest, waist and hip measurements, so you can match your height without changing the width. LS does the same for L.

Chest zip or back zip wetsuit?

The Men's 3/2mm Fullsuit V3 is a chest zip. A chest zip lets less water in than a back zip and leaves the back panel free to stretch when you paddle. Ours uses a YKK zip with an internal seal panel.

What are GBS seams on a wetsuit?

GBS means glued and blindstitched. The panels are glued, then stitched without the needle going all the way through the neoprene, so there are no holes for water to come in. On the V3 the seams are also taped inside.

What wetsuit should I wear each month?

As a general guide based on average water temperatures, wear a 3/2mm fullsuit when the water is about 57–68°F (14–20°C), and a 1.5mm wetsuit top when it is about 68°F (20°C) and above. Some months sit right on the line, so either can work depending on the day or the time of day. Go with what feels right. See what to wear each month for surf spots in Australia and the US.
